Your in-home newborn photography session questions answered

It took me a while to sit myself down and write here but I finally managed! I thought I should start my blog series by answering some of the most common questions I get from people who are interested in booking an in-home newborn photography session with Limoo Photography. As a reminder, although we are based in San Jose we offer in-home photography services to residence all around San Francisco Bay Area.

When should I book a newborn session?

The Ideal time for newborn photography is when baby is between 5-14 days old. At this time, your newborn baby is still used to being in the womb, allowing us to position them into sweet and curly poses. After the two-week mark, they become more alert, lighter sleepers, and baby acne starts to set in. That being said we can definitely still photograph your newborn baby after two weeks. Beautiful newborn photography images can be captured at any stage from 5 to 30 days old. However, you should know that once they grow past this “new” stage, we may not be able to entice them into all of the curly poses. Therefore the short answer is that It’s ideal to book your newborn session before baby’s arrival to ensure we can book your session within this golden newborn photography timeframe.

What’s your photography style?

Most of the newborn and family photography photos you see in my portfolio are posed photos. Though I can also do some lifestyle newborn photos as per your request. You may want to remember the sweet first few days of your newborn’s life in your home and you may like to document their nursery. My house doesn’t have much natural light. Is that ok?

Yes! I bring a professional baby safe studio light to every session to make sure we can achieve that premium studio newborn photography look for every session.

Do I have to buy any outfits or props for my newborn baby for their newborn photo session?

No, you don’t have to buy anything. I bring lots of props including wraps, hats, headbands, and bonnets to your session. If you have a certain prop or outfit that you’d like to incorporate in your photos we can certainly do that. But there is no need to buy anything specifically for your session.

Should I prepare anything for my session?

The most important thing you need to prepare is a happy relaxed parents. 😉 But once you decide to book your newborn session with me I will send you an email containing a few tips on how to best prepare for your newborn session.

What locations do you provide newborn photography services to?

Our service areas include, but are not limited to Campbell, Willow Glen, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Redwood City, Milpitas, Fremont, Hayward, San Francisco, etc. At the moment I don’t charge any travel fees.
